Be aware that the two-lane freeway going in and out is curvy and challenging. The only draw back is Barona's location on Wildcat Canyon Road. This is NOT the place to get drunk and crazy on a weekend night. They keep the place clean and fun at all times for all ages. Barona staff are friendly, patient and helpful. If quality gaming is super important to you, they offer virtually everything allowed in California from slots to exotic card games. Comps are very generous and the buffet is second best in the county (Valley View is #1). In my opinion, Barona works harder in the absence of alcohol. You will frequently see senior citizens sitting side by side with their "grandkids" at this popular, award winning casino. By California law, 18 year olds are allowed to gamble at dry casinos. Not only is the crowd a bit tamer, it is significantly younger. Barona is a "dry casino" that limits alcohol consumption to hotel rooms and a few select areas of the casino. The real question is whether you need alcohol while doing it. With well over a dozen casinos in San Diego County and a hundred more in Las Vegas (about six hours away), there's no shortage of (gaming) entertainment options. Barona Casino and Resort located near Lakeside California is by far the best casino in Southern California. ![]()
